Wonderful Wellington

Cable Car Wellington Wellington is celebrated as the country's cultural and creative hub. From street art to coffee, and live music to theatre, Wellington is brimming with sights, smells and sounds to delight all delegates.

Plus, said to have more bars, restaurants and cafes per capita than New York, New Zealand's capital of cool is a culinary heaven for visitors who want to experience great food and service. Wellington restaurants have taken out the country's ultimate cuisine prize time after time.

The capital acts as the nation's transport hub and is easily and regularly accessed by international and domestic flight, inter-island ferries, trains and automobiles. The city centre is 20 minute drive from the airport with a number of taxis, shuttles and the Airport flyer bus on hand to transfer visitors to the central city.

General Information

Airport Transfers

The taxi fare from Wellington Airport to Wellington CBD is approximately $35. Most credit cards and taxi vouchers can be used. Taxis are readily available at the airport or bookings can be made.

Airport Shuttle

SuperShuttles operate a cheaper transfer both to and from Wellington Airport and the CBD. The service is door to door and shuttles are readily available at the airport.

Airport Flyer

The Airport Flyer (# 91) is an express bus service that runs every 15 minutes from the Airport to the Centre of Wellington. Fare is approx $8.50 and tickets can be purchased on board. The bus stop is to the right through the main doors on the ground level at the airport. It picks up in the central city from Willis Street and Courtenay Place.

Central city banks are generally open Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5.00pm (ASB Bank has a 7 day banking service).
